Empowering young people in Kisauni & Nyali
Help a Bro'Da is a survivor-led, youth-focused CBO founded in 2020 — walking with adolescents and young people to build safer, healthier, and more dignified futures.
Walking with youth in Kenya's coast
Founded in 2020, Help a Bro'Da (HBD) is a registered, survivor-led community-based organisation rooted in the informal settlements of Kisauni and Nyali, Mombasa. Our approach is grounded in feminist leadership, lived experiences, and grassroots action — ensuring young people are not just beneficiaries, but leaders of change.

Our Thematic Areas
Six interconnected programmes addressing the most urgent needs of adolescents and young people in our communities.
GBV Prevention, Response & Advocacy
We organise SGBV awareness walks, run community sensitization barazas, provide counselling for survivors, refer GBV cases for legal, medical and psychosocial support, and advocate on peace and security issues.
Sexual & Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)
We deliver in-school SRHR sessions for adolescents, menstrual health and reproductive health education, and mentorship and life skills sessions to ensure every young person can make safe, informed choices.
Mental Health & Psychosocial Support
We create safe spaces for young people, provide individual and group counselling sessions, and deliver emotional support for survivors and vulnerable youth — breaking stigma one conversation at a time.
Economic Empowerment & Skills Building
We run baking sessions for adolescent girls, shaggy mat making with boys, urban smart farming initiatives, and mentorship on income-generating activities — unlocking dignified livelihoods for youth.
Education Support & Youth Empowerment
We support vulnerable children with school materials, keep girls and young mothers in school, and build leadership and civic engagement skills so young people can shape the decisions that affect them.
Climate Action & Community Work
We organise beach and community clean-up drives, raise awareness on sanitation and environmental health, and engage young people in local climate action — because they will inherit the choices we make today.

Real conversations. Real impact.
Our work happens in schools, courtyards, correctional facilities, and community spaces — wherever young people are. We listen first, then act together. From awareness walks to counselling sessions, every action is shaped by lived experience.
